Donors opposing California's Proposition 8, which passed in the November, 2008 general election.  Proposition 8 restricts the definition of marriage to one man and one woman, thus eliminating the right of same-sex couples to legally marry. 

Donors opposed to the Proposition include gay rights activists and other progressive and liberal voices.  The opposition argues that Proposition 8 violates equality under the law by failing to guarantee the same marriage rights to all of its citizens.  The vote on this Proposition sparked heated debate nationwide.
